Thank you for volunteering to help “behind the scenes” for The Big One-Oh! JR.! We will use email to communicate with our volunteers. ALL volunteers who arrive an hour before show time will be compensated with a comp ticket/s for their efforts. (Ushers, concession workers, and Bravo table workers will get to see the show they are working for free.) Don’t forget to log the allotted volunteer hours on our spreadsheet. 10 hours is required to waive the extra $100 fee.
LOAD IN/LOAD OUT CREW – You will be responsible for helping move a selection of items (costumes, props, set pieces, sound equipment, etc.) from The Biz to the performance venue, and at the end of the show’s run you will be responsible for moving those items from the performance venue back to The Biz as per directions from the Load In/Load Out Coordinator. We will also need a couple of trucks and trailers to transport set pieces and clothing racks. (6 hours volunteer hours. More if you stay and help set up.)
PUBLICITY TEAM – This team will brainstorm and collaborate on places to ask for ads or to put up flyers. I need out-going people that strongly support The Biz! (Volunteer hours depend on your time commitment.)
HOUSE MANAGER – The House manager is responsible for overseeing ushers, the lobby area, communicating with the Stage Manager on when to call places for the cast, and monitor seating. You will also stay after the show and make sure the Concessions and Bravo table workers are cleaning up and taking care of their area. You will be on duty for all the shows. Arrive at least one hour before the show. You will get to see the show for free each performance. (8 volunteer hours.)
CONCESSIONS COORDINATOR – The Concessions Coordinator is responsible for setting up the concessions table before each performance, arriving one hour before each show. Then, you will be responsible for making sure the concession table is put away after the show. You will get to see the show for free each performance. You would also be expected to purchase, (and get reimbursed), ice for all shows. (6 volunteer hours.)
BRAVO TABLE COMMITTEE – You will help the Bravo Table Coordinator find/make items to sell at the Bravo Table and help set up the Bravo Table before each performance, as well as take it down at the end of the show. You will get 2 comp tickets to see the show. (Volunteer hours are dependent on hours spent.)
CAST PARTY PLANNERS – Plan and supervise at the cast party. (6 volunteer hours.)
CONCESSIONS/BRAVO TABLE – Concessions & Bravo Table helpers will “man” the table to sell items before the show, at intermission, and afterwards. You will then get to see the show for free at that performance. Please arrive 45 minutes before the show begins to check in with the Coordinator. (2 volunteer hours per show)
USHER – For this show/venue, you will be monitoring guests to be sure they come to the box office to check in or pay. You will then get to see the show for free at that performance. We ask that you arrive no later than one hour before the show to check in at the Box Office Table. (2 volunteer hours per show you usher.)
BACK HALLWAY MANAGER – This person will learn what is needed backstage for dress rehearsals and shows, and will relay this information to the supervisors for each performance. You will need to be at the venue at call time for the cast, but once your supervisors are there, you may watch the show. You will also need to check in with the supervisor during intermission, and then again after the show to help the Supervisor make sure ALL cast members have hung up their clothes and cleaned their area before leaving. You may be needed to stay backstage for a show if needed. (8 volunteer hours.)
BACKSTAGE SUPERVISOR PER SHOW – You will be monitoring cast members backstage during tech rehearsals and shows, making sure they remain quiet and ready for entrances. (All parents of children aged 10 and under are expected to sign up for one slot for this.) You will need to arrive one hour before each show, and come at call time for the last two rehearsals. (4 volunteer hours per show.)
COSTUMES AND PROPS HELPERS – You will help the coordinator build, make, or find needed things for each committee. (Volunteer hours are dependent on your time spent working with your committee.)
SET PAINTING AND DECORATION – Some of this will be done during the rehearsal process, and some will need to be done once we’re at Avon North. (Volunteer hours are dependent on the time you spend helping us.)
STAGE CREW – This is the fun job! You get to work backstage during tech rehearsals and each show to help move sets, keep kids quiet, and to help the Stage Manager in anything she needs help with. (I have worked many a show that my family members were in!). You get to see what the “other side” is all about, and it gives you an appreciation for everything that goes on backstage! (8 volunteer hours, although you’ll be “working” many more hours than that!)
SPOTLIGHT OPERATOR – You will be running spotlights for the second half of tech week and every show. No experience necessary, as you will be trained. In these positions, you get front row seats in the light booth! (8 volunteer hours.)
