Plus, your child gets the experience of being on stage, with costumes, props, and a set, and learns memorization skills, coordination, time management, and many other life skills.

*Financial assistance available through The MRA Foundation

Rehearsal Schedule:

Rehearsals will begin Monday, March 10 from 6-8:30 PM. During tech week (the week before the show opens), there will be mandatory rehearsal EVERY evening from 5:30-9:30 PM. If this is too late for your child, please do not have them audition. Final dress rehearsal WILL go later, as it is our last rehearsal before opening. We will get the full schedule out to you as soon as possible, normally within a week after casting. PLEASE submit all conflicts on the back of your AUDITION FORM (NOT the Attendance Policy).  We will not be accepting any conflicts for the week of tech week or ANY shows, and please note, as always, your conflicts may affect casting decisions.

Preparation:

Prepare a 1-2 minute monologue that shows off your acting skills! We will also have you cold read some lines from the script. Complete these two forms (Audition Form & Attendance Policy) prior to arriving for your audition.  It is preferred for the Audition Form to be filled out on a computer so that all fields are completed and legible.  The form works best when opened and completed in Adobe Acrobat (not a web browser).

Arrive on the day of your audition at least 10 MINUTES early to sign-in at The Biz office and be sure to bring the following:

  1. YOUR COMPLETED AUDITION FORM & ATTENDANCE POLICY
  2. ALL MONDAY THROUGH SUNDAY CONFLICTS (including holidays) FROM March 10-April 19 WRITTEN ON THE BACK OF THE AUDITION FORM. Please include any vacations! We require ALL cast members to be available for every night of tech rehearsals and ALL shows. (Conflicts added after casting may result in being asked to step down from the show.)

If you would like to audition but are unavailable for the scheduled days/times, please reach out to the producer, Amanda Hemmert (anhemmert@gmail.com), to schedule an alternative time to audition.

Synopsis:

It’s a (magical) disaster! A school of wizardry needs a new professor…and classes start tomorrow. Everyone’s coming through the portal for an interview, from a suspiciously fake-looking centaur to this one guy from Oz who can’t even DO anything. Can anybody save the day? A spellbinding comedy that has created the completely new concept of a school for wizards and is definitely not making fun of anything in particular.

Characters:

HEADMASTER GREYWHIMSY: Cheerful to the point of oblivious, except for occasional bursts of surprising competence
