Thank you for volunteering to help “behind the scenes” for Employees Must Wash Hands…Before Murder! We will use email to communicate with our volunteers. ALL volunteers who arrive an hour before show time will be compensated with a comp ticket/s for their efforts. (Ushers, concession workers, and Bravo table workers will get to see the show they are working for free.)
COSTUMES/PROPS/SETS CHAIR – You will be responsible for working with the director to make sure that all items requested for your area (costumes, props, sets) have been found/created. Items can be found by going through what The Biz currently owns, finding second hand, asking cast members to supply pieces, or creating new. You will receive 2 comp tickets to be used at the show of your choice.
COSTUMES/PROPS/SETS HELPERS – You will be responsible for supporting the the chairperson to make sure all items requested by the director have been found/created. You will receive 1 comp ticket to be used at the show of your choice.
LOAD IN/LOAD OUT CREW – You will be responsible for helping move a selection of items (costumes, props, set pieces, sound equipment, etc.) from The Biz to the performance venue, and at the end of the show’s run you will be responsible for moving those items from the performance venue back to The Biz. We are always in need of a couple of trucks and trailers to transport set pieces and clothing racks. You will receive 1 comp ticket (2 if you help with both Load In and Load Out) to be used at the show of your choice.
HOUSE MANAGER – The house manager is responsible for overseeing ushers, the lobby area, communicating with the Stage Manager on when to call places for the cast, and monitor seating. You will also stay after the show and make sure the Concessions and Bravo table workers are cleaning up and taking care of their area. You will be on duty for all the shows. Arrive at least one hour before EACH show. You will get to see the show for free each performance.
CONCESSIONS COORDINATOR – The Concessions Coordinator is responsible for setting up the concessions table before each performance, arriving one hour before EACH show. Then, you will be responsible for making sure the concession table is put away after the show. You will get to see the show for free each performance. You would also be expected to purchase (and get reimbursed for) ice for all shows.
BRAVO TABLE COORDINATOR – The Bravo Table Coordinator is responsible for working with the Bravo Table committee to find/make items to sell and for setting up the Bravo tables (both for items to sell & Bravo bags) before each performance, arriving one hour before EACH show. Then, you will be responsible for making sure the Bravo tables are put away after the show. You will get to see the show for free each performance.
BRAVO TABLE COMMITTEE – You will help the Bravo Table Coordinator find/make items to sell at the Bravo Table. You will receive 1 comp ticket to be used at the show of your choice.
SPOTLIGHT OPERATORS – You will be running spotlights starting the Wednesday of tech week and at every show. No experience necessary, as you will be trained. In this position, you get front row seats in the light booth!
CAST PARTY PLANNERS – Plan and supervise at the cast party. You will receive 1 comp ticket to be used at the show of your choice.
BACKSTAGE HELPERS – You will be monitoring and helping cast members backstage during tech rehearsals and shows, making sure they remain quiet and ready for entrances, helping with costume changes, etc. You will need to arrive one hour before the show you signed up for or come at the call time for the dress rehearsal you signed up for. You will receive 1 comp ticket to be used at the show of your choice.
USHER – For this show/venue, you will be checking tickets at the auditorium doors, passing out Playbills, and helping guests find their seats. You will then get to see the show for free at that performance. We ask that you arrive no later than one hour before the show to check in at the Box Office Table.
CONCESSIONS/BRAVO TABLE – Concessions & Bravo Table helpers will “man” the table to sell items before the show, at intermission, and afterwards. You will then get to see the show for free at that performance. Please arrive 45 minutes before the show begins to check in with the Coordinator.
