Rehearsal Schedule:
Rehearsal schedule will be available the week before auditions. Looking like an end of May start (approx. May 20-25), periodic dance brush up and zoom rehearsals in June, with July being the month to put it all together. Please put all conflicts on the back of your AUDITION FORM. Please note that NO CONFLICTS will be allowed for any performance or any day the week before the show opens!
Preparation:
Prepare 16-32 bars of a contemporary musical theater song! Also EVERYONE will have to do the dance call, no exceptions. Complete these two forms (Audition Form & Attendance Policy) prior to arriving for your audition. It is preferred for the Audition Form to be filled out on a computer so that all fields are completed and legible. The form works best when opened and completed in Adobe Acrobat (not a web browser).
Arrive on the day of your audition at least 10 MINUTES early to sign-in at The Biz office and be sure to BRING SHEET MUSIC, YOUR COMPLETED AUDITION FORM & ATTENDANCE POLICY, AND ALL MONDAY THROUGH SUNDAY CONFLICTS FROM MAY 20-AUGUST 10, WRITTEN ON THE BACK OF THE AUDITION FORM. Please include any vacations! We require ALL cast members to be available for every night of tech rehearsals and ALL shows. (Conflicts added after casting may result in being asked to step down from the show.) We will hold a mandatory 30 minute dance audition after every 2 sets of singing time slots, so bring clothes you can change into so that you can move well. Note that ALL auditioning must dance. There will be a mover portion and a dancer portion of the dance call for all to choose your own adventure.
For those college students not in town that would like to audition, we will be accepting self-tape auditions. If you are interested in sending in a self-tape audition, please email akvanparis@gmail.com ASAP so we can get you on the list to receive the dance call recording. We will be asking you to put on tape for us: a slate (name, age, height), 16-32 bars of a contemporary musical theater song, and the dance combination that you will be sent once we receive notice that you will be auditioning virtually.
Dance Audition Workshops:
Alexandria Van Paris will hold dance audition workshops on Tuesday, April 23: 5:00-6:30 PM and 7:00-8:30 PM. These are highly recommended as you will be taught the audition dance segment and more. Cost is $30 for one class or $50 for two classes. SIGN UP HERE.
